Postpartum Physical Therapy Services

PAIN, CHANGES TO YOUR ABDOMINALS, PRESSURE AND LEAKAGE MAY BE COMMON POSTPARTUM, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.

LET US BE YOUR GUIDE THROUGH THIS PHYSICAL* TRANSFORMATION AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF SO THAT YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF YOUR BABY.

Provided with or without a referral in the state of Ohio. Formal evaluation and plan of care created to address pain or inability to perform your daily activities possibly due to a recent injury or surgery or to address a long-standing issue.

Typical women’s health complaints treated:

Postpartum

  • Neck, shoulder, back, hip, knee and foot/ankle pain
  • Pelvic Girdle/SIJ pain
  • Numbness and tingling in arms or legs
  • Deconditioning that may manifest as difficulty, pain, or fatigue completing daily tasks
  • Diastasis recti
  • Postural pain with breastfeeding
  • Pain or difficulty carrying and lifting baby
  • C-section scar pain
  • Trouble returning to pre-pregnancy levels of activity

What can I expect?

  • a discovery call to discuss your goals and determine the right services for you; we will schedule your evaluation at the end of this call
  • an initial evaluation that looks at how you are currently moving, which may include an assessment of your abdominals, pelvic floor (externally), breathing, strength, coordination/balance, scar tissue healing, and body mechanics – this varies based on your individual needs
  • a discussion of your comprehensive plan of care/services that will typically include an estimate of frequency of visits as well as services to address your goals
  • Treatments may include:
    • Manual therapy (hands-on treatment)
    • Home Exercise Program
    • Education

Wellness Services

Individual Exercise and Lifestyle Plans for Preventing injury and disability, promoting healthy lifestyle and improving quality of life. Integrative approach considering diet*, activity, mental health**, physical health.

Typical Women’s Health Wellness Goals:

  • Return to Exercise with or without pelvic pain, incontinence, diastasis recti, and pelvic organ prolapse
  • These services may be appropriate if you have been discharged from PT or do not have a current injury and still have performance goals or would like to improve overall fitness and wellness

What Can I Expect?

  • Following an initial evaluation, your
    • therapist will determine a comprehensive plan that may include the following:
      • Manual therapy
      • (hands-on treatment)
      • Home Exercise Program
      • Education
